NORWEGIAN CHRISTMAS BREAD
Remove seeds from 1/2 small orange and put in blender or food chopper. Set aside. Boil 1 cup water. Add 3/4 cup Golden raisins and bring to boil again. Pour off water and drain raisins on paper towels.

Scald 1 cup milk. Soften 1 package dry yeast in 1/4 cup warm water, set aside.

Put 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon salt in large bowl. Pour scalded milk over ingredients in bowl. When lukewarm blend in 1 cup flour and 1 teaspoon cardamom. Stir yeast and add, mixing well.

Measure 3-3 1/2 cups flour and add about 1/2 of it to yeast mixture and beat until very smooth. Then beat in ground orange and raisins and add enough flour to make a soft dough. Knead and allow to rise in large bowl.

Punch down and let rise again. Form into loaves and let rise. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. Remove from oven and brush with slightly beaten egg white. Return to oven and bake 10-15 minutes more.
