CHRISTMAS FRUIT BREAD | |
2 cakes of yeast 1 tbsp. sugar 1 c. lukewarm water Mix this and let stand to cool. 1 c. milk, scalded 6 tbsp. shortening 1/2 c. sugar 1 tsp. salt 7 c. sifted flour 3 eggs, beaten Cool this to lukewarm. Add to yeast mixture; add 1 or 2 cardamon seeds, 1/2 teaspoon almond, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla, and a cup of fruit. Frost and decorate with fruit and nuts. Bake at 375 degrees about 20 minutes. Makes 4 small loaves. |
