CHOCOLATE SAUERKRAUT CAKE | |
2/3 c. butter 1 1/2 c. minus 2 tbsp. sugar 3 eggs 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. + 4 tbsp. water 1 tsp. red food coloring (optional) 1/2 c. cocoa 1 tsp. baking powder 1/4 tsp. salt 2 1/4 c. sifted flour 3/4 tsp. baking soda 2/3 c. sauerkraut which has been rinsed well with water, drained and chopped fine Cream butter and sugar; beat in eggs and vanilla. Sift dry ingredients together and add alternately with water to the butter-sugar-egg mixture. Stir in sauerkraut and food coloring. Bake in greased and floured 9 x 13 inch cake pan at 350 degrees for approximately 30 minutes. Frost with favorite frosting and keeps well in refrigerator or freezer. |
