POPPYSEED BREAD | |
3 c. all-purpose flour 2 c. sugar 3 eggs 1 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1 1/2 tbsp. poppy seeds 1 1/2 c. milk 3/4 c. vegetable oil 1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract 1 1/2 tsp. almond extract 1 1/2 tsp. butter flavoring Orange glaze (below) Combine first 11 ingredients in a large bowl; beat 2 minutes at medium speed of electric mixer. Spoon batter into 2 greased and floured 8-inch by 4-inch by 3-inch loaf pans; bake at 350°F for 1 hour or until a wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean Pour orange glaze over poppyseed bread after it has cooled 5 minutes. Cool 5 more minutes and remove from pans; place on rack to finish cooling. Orange Glaze: 1/4 c. orange juice 3/4 c. sugar 1/2 tsp. vanilla 1/2 tsp. almond extract 1/2 tsp. butter flavoring Mix together sugar, orange juice and extracts until sugar is dissolved. |
