BUTTER SCOTCH DUMPLING 
1 c. sugar
2 1/2 c. boiling water
1/4 c. butter
1/8 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. butter
1/2 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. milk

Melt 1 cup sugar slowly in heavy skillet. Add boiling water, 1/4 cup butter and 1/8 teaspoon salt. Simmer slowly while mixing the remaining ingredients. Drop by spoonfuls into syrup. Cover TIGHTLY, bake in 350 degree oven for 25 minutes WITHOUT REMOVING COVER. Makes as many as you wish, according to size.
