ICEBOX FRUIT COOKIES 
1 lb. butter
2 1/2 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt (optional)
5 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. vanilla
4 oz. candied cherries
4 oz. candied pineapple
1 c. dates
1 c. white raisins
1 or 2 c. nut meats

Chop the fruit and nuts fine, using an extra 1/2 cup flour to dredge board. Cream butter and sugar. Add beaten eggs and vanilla. Sift soda, salt, and flour into mixture adding fruit and nuts last.

Roll into 5 or 6 rolls and bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes. These rolls keep well in the refrigerator for 3 or 4 weeks, even longer in the freezer.
