GRANDMA'S POWDERED SUGAR COOKIES 
1 1/2 c. sifted powdered sugar
1/2 c. butter
1/2 c. shortening
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/4 tsp. almond or lemon extract
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cream of tartar
1/2 c. chopped pecans
1/2 c. coconut

Gradually add 1 1/2 cups sifted powdered sugar to 1/2 cup soft butter and 1/2 cup shortening in bowl, creaming well. Add egg, vanilla and almond or lemon extract. Beat until fluffy. Sift together flour, soda and cream of tartar. Add 1/2 cup of pecans and 1/2 cup of coconut.

Drop small teaspoonfuls on ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes at 400 degrees. While hot roll cookies in powdered sugar.
