SUGAR COOKIES 
1/2 c. shortening
1 c. sugar
1 egg
3/4 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. lemon juice
1/2 c. milk
3 c. flour
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt

Cream shortening with sugar. When light and fluffy, beat in egg. Add vanilla and lemon juice. Beat in milk gradually with mixed flour, baking powder and salt. Chill in refrigerator for at least 1 hour. Roll out paper thin on slightly floured board. Cut with cookie cutter. Sprinkle with granulated sugar. Bake at 375 degrees on greased baking sheet for 10 minutes.
