SAUCY FRANKS | |
1/2 c. chopped onions 1 tbsp. Crisco oil 1 (14 oz.) bottle ketchup 1/4 c. water 1 tbsp. vinegar 1 tbsp. sugar 1/4 c. sweet relish 1/4 tsp. salt Dash of pepper 1 lb. hot dogs 8 to 10 hot dog buns Preheat electric skillet to 250 degrees (or use regular skillet on medium heat). Cook onion in hot oil until tender, but not brown. Stir in ketchup, water, vinegar, sugar, salt, and pepper. For fancy franks, cut round hot dogs very lightly. Add to sauce in skillet, lower temperature to 220 degrees. Cover and simmer until hot through, about 15 minutes. Slice and toast the buns. Spoon hot dogs and sauce into buns. |
