PEPPER STEAK AND CHILI GRAVY 
1 lb. beef round or cube steaks, cut into serving pieces
1 tsp. salt
4 tsp. pepper
1 egg, beaten
2 tbsp. water
1 c. finely crushed corn flakes
1 1/2 tsp. chili powder
1/4 c. pure vegetable oil
1 med. onion, sliced
1 sm. green pepper, sliced
2 (8 oz.) cans tomato sauce
3/4 c. water

Trim all fat off steak. Pound with meat mallet or edge of saucer. Sprinkle with salt and pepper. Dip into egg beaten with water, then into crushed corn flakes mixed with chili powder. Brown meat in oil on both sides. Add onion and green pepper; pour in tomato sauce and water. Cover and simmer 1 to 1 1/4 hour or until tender. Yields 5-6 servings.
