DATE PIE 
1/2 lb. dates
1 qt. milk
2 eggs
1/2 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 uncooked pie shell, pastry

Cook dates in 1 pint of milk on medium low heat for 20 - 30 minutes.

Put through food mill or strainer.

2 eggs, beaten
1/2 c. sugar
1/8 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla

Add to warm milk (1 pint). Add to date mixture. Mix well.

Pour into uncooked pie shell (pastry). Bake 425 degrees for 10 minutes. Bake at 300 degrees for 45 minutes. Insert knife to test.

TOPPING:

1/4 pt. whipped heavy cream
3 tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
