TURTLE CAKE 
1 German chocolate cake mix (18 1/2 oz.)
1 (14 oz.) pkg. caramels
1/3 c. evaporated milk
1 stick butter
1 c. chopped pecans or walnuts
9x13 inch pan, well greased and floured

Prepare cake mix according to directions. Pour half of batter into well greased and floured pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 15 minutes. Remove from oven.

While cake is baking, in medium saucepan over medium heat, combine caramels, milk and butter until caramels are melted. Pour mixture over baked layer of cake - smooth evenly. Sprinkle with layer of chopped nuts. Pour remaining cake batter over top. Return to oven and bake 20 to 25 minutes. Remove and cool completely. Frost with favorite chocolate frosting.

Note: I melt the caramels, milk and butter before I make the cake.
