BUTTERMILK PRUNE CAKE 
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1 tsp. salt
1 1/2 c. sugar
1 c. oil
1 c. buttermilk
1 tsp. vanilla
1 c. diced cooked prunes
3 eggs
1 c. walnuts

Preheat oven. Sift dry ingredients together. Set aside. Cream oil and sugar; add eggs. Beat well. Add dry ingredients alternately with buttermilk. Add prunes, vanilla, and walnuts. Mix well. Bake at 350 degrees for 40-45 minutes.

TOPPING:

1 c. sugar
1 stick butter
1/2 tsp. baking soda
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. white syrup
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix ingredients together. Cook topping about 3 minutes. Pour over cake while still hot.
