Buttermilk Prune Cake

 Beverly Spencer (North Carolina) says:
This cake is delicious, not difficult to make, and everyone will love it. Every day it gets better and better. My grandmother gave me this recipe about 35 years ago. She said it was her mother's recipe, and she didn't know how long it had been in the family. She was 65 at the time, so you can see it is an old time-tested recipe (you can substitute dates, craisins, or dried apricots for prunes; also may substitute pecans for walnuts).
