CHOCOLATE NUT WAFERS | |
1/2 c. shortening 1 c. sugar 2 eggs, unbeaten 1 tsp. vanilla 3 oz. unsweetened chocolate, melted 3/4 c. flour 3/4 tsp. salt 3/4 c. chopped pecans or walnuts Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease cookie sheets. Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Add chocolate. Add dry ingredients; mix. Add nuts. Drop by teaspoon onto cookie sheet. Flatten. Bake 10 to 12 minutes. Do not over cook. Remove and cool on cookie rack. Freezes well. Store in tight container. Makes 3 dozen. COCOA NUT WAFERS: Omit chocolate and add 9 tablespoons cocoa in first mixing step. Increase shortening to 2/3 cup. Follow same directions. |
