OLD FASHIONED SOFT MOLASSES
COOKIES
 
1 1/2 c. light brown sugar
1 c. Crisco
2 eggs
5 c. flour
1 c. boiling water
1 c. lite molasses (Brer Rabbit)
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tbsp. ground ginger
1 tsp. salt

Cream sugar and Crisco thoroughly; add eggs, stir well and add molasses. Gradually add dry ingredients, stirring well. Add boiling water last, stir well.

Drop by teaspoonsful on greased tins. Cook at 400 degrees for 12 minutes.

Optional: Raisins, dry fruits, etc. can be added to the batter (be sure to lightly flour fruit before putting into batter).
