TORTILLAS 
4 c. flour
2 tbsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
4 tbsp. shortening or lard, melted
1 3/4 c. warm water
1 c. flour

Mix together first 5 ingredients; knead in most of last cup of flour until dough is not sticky. Divide dough into small pieces (about 12). Roll each piece out like a pancake and cook each side on a hot griddle. (If shells stick, lightly grease griddle.)

For taco shells and tostadas leave out baking powder.
