CHEWY CHOCOLATE COOKIES 
1 1/4 c. butter or shortening
2 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
2 c. flour
3/4 c. cocoa
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
2 c. (12 oz. pkg.) peanut butter or chocolate chips

Heat oven to 350 degrees. In large bowl cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla; beat well. Combine flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt; gradually blend into creamed mixture. Stir in chips.

Drop by spoonful onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8-9 minutes. (Do not overbake; cookies will be soft. They will fluffy while baking and flatten while cooling.) Cool slightly and remove from sheet.
