GERM CHOCOLATE CAKE | |
2 c. sugar 1 c. butter 2 1/2 c. cake flour 1 c. buttermilk 1/2 c. boiling water 1/2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. baking soda 1 (4 oz.) pkg. German's sweet chocolate 4 egg whites, stiffly beaten 1 tsp. vanilla Cream sugar and butter. Sift flour, salt and soda together and add to mixture, alternating with buttermilk. Melt chocolate in the hot water and cool. Pour into batter and add egg yolks. Mix well. Then add beaten egg whites. Makes 3 layers. Bake at 350 degrees for about 30 minutes. Use 8" pans. FROSTING: 1 c. Pet milk 1 c. sugar 3 egg yolks 1 stick butter 1 tsp. vanilla Mix all ingredients in saucepan and cook 12 minutes. Then add 1 cup chopped pecans or black walnuts and 1 cup coconut. |
