CRUMBLES (SCOTTISH) 
1 cup butter
1 1/3 cups brown sugar
1/4 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg
2 cups sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt

To 1 cup butter, beaten until soft, add 1 1/3 cups brown sugar, and beat until creamy.

Then add 1/4 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg.

Combine, then work in with the hands:

2 cups sifted flour
1/4 tsp. salt

Roll dough to 1/3 inch thickness. Cut into 1-1/2 inch squares.

Bake on greased cookie sheet at 375°F. for about 20 minutes.

Makes 4 dozen.
