GORDITAS 
3 1/2 cups Masa harina or maseca
1 cup all-purpose flour
4 tablespoons shortening or butter
2 teaspoons baking powder
2 teaspoons salt
2 1/4 cups Very hot water

Mix all ingredients well with an electric mixer in the above order, start on slow, end on high. Beat until the masa accumulates around the beaters in a big clump.

Using a tortilla press and 2 pieces of Reynolds wrap, proceed as if making tortillas, using balls of masa about 1 3/4" in diameter, and pressing out to a thickness of about 1/8". Then, bake the tortillas on a griddle on medium high, flipping 2x. There should be light brown spots on both sides. When ready to fill, fry about 10-20 seconds on each side in hot oil, until they are puffed up. Lay on paper towelling, cool slightly, and cut open the 2 layers about 3" at the top of the tortilla and stuff with your favorite filling.

Serve immediately.
