LIMA BEANS AND SAUERKRAUT 
4 c. water
2 c. sauerkraut
3 tbsp. onion soup mix
1/2 tsp. pepper
Cornstarch (optional)
3 c. lima beans
3 tbsp. brown sugar
3 tbsp. soy sauce
2 c. sausage, wieners, etc.

Heat water and beans to boiling in Dutch oven. Boil 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Cover and let stand 1 hour. Add more water as needed. Cook lima beans covered for 1 hour. Add sauerkraut, sugar, soup mix, soy sauce, pepper, and sausage. Add more water to keep liquid. Cover. Cook for 1 hour. Add cornstarch to thicken, if desired (3 teaspoons to 1/4 cup water).
