CHOCOLATE OATMEAL COOKIES 
2 c. flour
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1 c. sugar
1 c. firmly packed brown sugar
1 c. shortening
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2 c. quick cooking oats, uncooked
1 (6 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 c. chopped nuts

Combine flour, soda, baking powder and salt; set aside. Combine sugar and shortening, creaming well; beat in eggs and vanilla. Add flour mixture; mix well. Stir in oats and chocolate chips; add chopped nuts.

Drop dough by heaping teaspoonsful onto lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes. Cool slightly on cookie sheets; remove to wire racks to cool completely.
