SAND TARTS 
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla
4 c. flour
Powdered sugar
3 egg whites
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 c. sugar
2 3/4 oz. pkg. (1 c.) sliced almonds

Cream butter and 2 cups sugar. Beat in eggs and vanilla. Beat in flour. Sprinkle powdered sugar on counter. Roll out a portion of dough on powdered sugar, sprinkling top with powdered sugar to prevent sticking, until very thin, between 1/8 and 1/16 inch thickness, like a potato chip. Cut into rounds of 3 inch diameter. Place, more heavily sugared side upward, on lightly greased cookie sheet. Beat egg whites until foamy. Combine cinnamon and 1 cup sugar. Brush tops of cookies with egg white. Sprinkle with cinnamon sugar. Top with pieces of sliced almond. Bake at 325 degrees for 10 minutes. Repeat until dough is used. Makes about 8 dozen cookies.
