SCALLOPED ONIONS 
6 slices of bread, toasted, buttered and cubed
3 c. sliced onions
1 1/2 c. grated or cubed cheese
Butter
1 egg, beaten
1 c. milk
1 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Cook onions until done. Put 1/2 of bread in bottom of casserole, a layer of onion and cheese, then more bread, onion and cheese. Mix egg, milk, salt and pepper and pour over the casserole. Dot with butter and bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
