APPLESAUCE CAKE 
1/2 c. shortening
2 c. sugar (less if applesauce is sweet)
1 lg. egg
1 1/2 c. thick unsweetened applesauce
2 1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 tsp. each cinnamon, cloves, allspice
1 c. raisins
1/2 c. walnuts
2 tsp. baking soda, dissolved in 1/2 c. boiling water
Dash salt
Option - sm. carton candied fruit

Cream shortening and sugar. Beat in egg and applesauce. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with soda dissolved in water. Add raisins and walnuts last, and candied fruit (if desired). Pour in greased Bundt or tube pan and bake at 325 degrees for 1 hour and 15 minutes or until done.
