2 c. self-rising flour
1 c. buttermilk with 1 tbsp. shortening mixed in the buttermilk
Mix the cup of buttermilk and shortening in the flour slowly until it gets so you can work it with your hands. (You may not need all the buttermilk.) Pour it on a floured board or flat surface. Work or knead it until it is ready to roll out. Roll it out to about 1/2-inch and cut or roll it into biscuits. Grease a pan. Place in and let your biscuits touch each other. Bake in oven at 400 degrees about 20 minutes.
If you use plain flour, add 1/4 spoon soda, 1/4 spoon salt, and one spoon of baking powder.
