FINNISH BARLEY RIESKA | |
3 c. white flour 1 1/2 c. barley flour 3 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. baking soda 1/4 c. sugar 2 tsp. salt 1/2 c. shortening 2 c. buttermilk Mix dry ingredients, excepting soda, first, then work in the shortening. Stir in buttermilk and soda until you have a soft dough. Pat or roll on greased cookie sheet 1/2 inch thick. Bake in 425 degree oven about 35 minutes. Oatmeal or rye flour can be substituted in above. A nice change from bread with a meal especially with stew or soup. |
