STONE CROCK COOKIES 
1 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. nutmeg
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs, beaten
3 c. sifted flour
1/4 c. milk
1 c. chopped nuts

Combine shortening, salt, soda, vanilla and nutmeg. Add brown sugar gradually and cream well. Add beaten eggs; mix well. Alternate flour and milk until all is used. Add nuts. Roll in ball, place on greased sheet and flatten with bottom of glass. Bake 8-10 minutes at 375 degrees. Makes about 6 dozen.
