ALPHABET SOUP 
3 green onions
2 carrots
2 stalks celery
8 green beans
1 bay leaf
4 c. water
1 (15 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
4 bouillon cubes
1/2 c. alphabet shaped noodles
2 tbsp. salad oil
peeler, 2 qt. soup pan

Getting ready: Chop the green onions, then peel and cut the carrots into thin slices. Cut the celery stalks into bite-size pieces. Finally wash and cut the green beans in thirds.

Cooking: Put the oil in the soup pan and set it over medium heat. Add the cut-up vegetables and bay leaf. Stir everything until onions get soft (about 10 minutes). Open the can of tomatoes and carefully pour them into pan. Add the water, bouillon, salt, pepper (a few shakes each), and alphabet noodles. Cover and let cook (low heat) for 30 minutes. Stir once in awhile. You may have to add a little water if it seems too thick.
