3 c. flour 1 1/4 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. ginger 1/2 tsp. cloves 1 tsp. baking soda 3/4 c. shortening 1 1/2 c. sugar 1/4 c. dark molasses 2 tbsp. water 2 eggs, beaten 1 c. raisins 1/2 c. nuts Put flour, cinnamon, ginger, cloves and baking soda in a bowl and set aside. Cream shortening and sugar. Alternately add in molasses and egg and water mixture. Mix well. Add dry ingredients and mix. Lastly, stir in raisins and nuts. Set aside 1 tablespoon beaten eggs to brush on top. Bake for 20 minutes at 350 degrees. Divide dough into 3 pieces. Roll in hands long enough to fit in pan, then flatten in pan. |
