MARY BETH'S SALAD 
1 head lettuce, shredded fine
1/2 c. onion, chopped fine
1/2 c. celery, slice thin
1 can water chestnuts, sliced very thin
1 pkg. frozen English peas, broken apart and crumbled in lettuce

Place all ingredients in container with tight lid. Seal over with 1 pint Hellmann's mayonnaise. Sprinkle 1 tablespoon sugar over mayonnaise. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese to completely cover top. CHILL OVERNIGHT or make early in morning to serve for dinner.
