CLASSROOM PASTE | |
1 c. non-self rising wheat flour 1 c. sugar 1 c. cold water 4 c. boiling water 1 tbsp. powdered alum (can be found in spice section) Mix flour and sugar together until well blended in small saucepan. Slowly stir in cold water to form a paste. Slowly add boiling water, stirring vigorously to prevent lumps. Bring mixture to a boil, stirring constantly until thick and clear. Remove from heat and add alum. Mix well. Store in tightly capped jar for several weeks. Can be thinned with small amount of hot water if it becomes too hard to spread. Makes 1 1/2 quarts. |
