It was super easy to make, as others said, but I had to actually add powdered sugar to make it useable. Also, when I was making cool little roses to put on top of my cupcakes with it I had to keep it cold otherwise it was to melty. Worked good enough for my purposes though! All the other recipes I looked at were way to complicated so this one was nice. :)

Great recipe! Went well with 24 dozen cupcakes I am making for the 4th of July. Mixes well with powdered food color. Saved me a lot of time and money!!!!

Was easy to make, but even when you knead it for about an hour, it still kinda crumbles at the edges. Good for small figures like snowmen.

Disaster resulted from my attempt to use this recipe. Maybe a person making their first fondant really ought to use one of the cooked recipes or one of the recipes calling for glycerin. At first I thought it was going relatively well though even with the fondant in a ball it had hairline cracks. I rolled the fondant between waxed paper on a marble pastry "board." I used the rolling pin to help delicately lift it over the cake and began to drape it over the cake. I really thought the entire endeavor was going to be successful. Then the fondant rapidly began to crack in multiple places. Hairline cracks became splits than ran like pantyhose. The fondant broke up into pieces and slid off the cake landing around it in a heaping mess. Just enough was left behind to make the cake look unspeakably horrible. After this first and only experience I may be done with fondant forever.

My first go at fondant. Thanks Wendy, this was so simple and easy. I had a play and made a practice cake. Tomorrow will be a double tier Thomas the Tank Engine cake for my 3 year old. Yikes!!!

It sounds more like Royal icing or American Buttercream than it does Fondant. However, with all the rave reviews, I think I will be giving this a chance.

Hi I am fairly new to baking and decorating. This recipe sounds awsome - can I add cocoa powder for a chocolate fondant?
