FAVORITE POT ROAST | |
Buy a "cheap" pot roast On Sunday morning put the pot roast in your crock pot and sprinkle 1 package of onion soup mix over the roast. Cover and cook on high until you get home from church. You have to go to Sunday School too or this won't cook long enough! When you get home run to your bedroom and remove your heels - I also change my clothes and remove my jewelry - but that's optional. Run to the kitchen and peel some potatoes for mashed potatoes and cook them. Remove the roast from the pot and make gravy by adding a mixture of 2 heaping teaspoons of cornstarch with a little water the you stirred until smooth. Add this to drippings, you'll probably have to pour them into a pan on the stove. Stir to keep it smooth. When it's thick and yucky you might want to remove some of the grease, then I begin to add the hot water from the potatoes and stir a lot so it's smooth. This is excellent gravy if it works - if it turns out yucky and lumpy! dump it and make a brown gravy mix! Ha! Also open a can of green beans for your Sunday dinner! and don't forget to mash the potatoes. |
