CHERRY COFFEE CAKE 
1 c. sugar
6 tbsp. butter
1 c. all-purpose flour
1 tsp. baking powder
2 eggs
1/2 tsp. vanilla
3/4 lb. sweet cherries, pitted and halved (about 2 c.)
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1/4 tsp. cinnamon

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease a 9 inch springform pan. In a mixer bowl, beat sugar and butter until fluffy. Add flour, baking powder, eggs and vanilla; beat until well combined. Pour into pan. Place cherry halves on batter. Sprinkle with remaining ingredients. Bake one hour. Cool cake in pan. Yield: 8 servings.
