FRENCH APPLE COBBLER 
5 c. sliced apples
3/4 c. sugar
2 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
1 tbsp. soft butter

BATTER:

1/2 c. sifted flour
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
2 tbsp. soft butter
1 egg, slightly beaten

In bowl, combine apples, sugar, flour, cinnamon, salt, vanilla and 1/4 cup water. Turn into a 9 x 9 x 1 3/4 inch baking pan. Dot apples with butter.

In another bowl combine all batter ingredients, beat with wooden spoon until smooth. Drop batter in 9 portions over apples. Batter will spread during baking. Bake at 375 degrees for 35-45 minutes. Serve warm with cream. Makes 6-8 servings.
