MOM'S BUTTER TARTS 
1 lb. lard
5 c. flour
1 tbsp. salt
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 egg
1 tbsp. vinegar

Crumble the lard, flour, salt and sugar. In a cup, mix egg and vinegar and fill to top with water and mix well. Add to crumbled flour mixture a little at a time to form a pastry ball. Roll out and cut out tart circles and place in muffin or tart tins. Place a small amount of dry raisins in the tart shells then top with filling mixture 2/3 full.

FILLING:

3 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. evaporated milk
2 eggs
1 tsp. vanilla

Mix above ingredients and add 1/4 pound melted butter and stir. Bake at 400 degrees approximately 15 minutes or until pastry begins to lightly brown and filling is set.
