FRENCH TOAST 
1 c. flour
1/4 tsp. salt
2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1 tbsp. maple syrup
1 c. milk
5 slices dry bread, crust trimmed

Sift dry ingredients together. Add liquid ingredients and stir until blended. Dip slices of bread into batter and fry in deep fat at 375 degrees or on high. If batter is thicker than desired, thin with milk.
