1/4 c. butter
1/4 c. shortening
1 egg
1 c. sugar
1 1/2 c. apple sauce
1 c. raisins, cook a few minutes until soft
1/2 c. nutmeats, cut up
2 c. flour
2 level tsp. baking soda in flour
1/2 tsp. vanilla
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. salt

Mix sugar and shortening (1/2 cup). Add beaten egg. Stir in applesauce. Add dry ingredients - flour, soda, cinnamon, cloves and salt and vanilla. Add raisins and nuts. Bake 9 x 13 inch cake pan at 350 degrees for 30-40 minutes. Frost with your favorite frosting.
