APPLESAUCE CAKE
3 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. nutmeg
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. cloves
1 tbsp. cinnamon
1 tbsp. baking soda
2 tbsp. corn syrup
2 1/2 c. applesauce
1 mashed banana
1 c. butter
2 c. sugar (or less)
2 eggs
1 c. raisins
1 c. chopped walnuts

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Sift flour. Add nutmeg, salt, cloves, cinnamon and baking soda; set aside. Combine corn syrup, applesauce and bananas and set aside. Cream together butter and sugar until very light and fluffy. Add eggs to butter and sugar mixture. Beat until well blended. Add alternately to butter mixture the flour and applesauce mixtures. Beat until well blended. Stir in raisins and walnuts.

Pour batter in a well greased bundt pan or 9"x13" baking pan, bake in preheated 300 degree oven for 1 1/2 hours or until a tester inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Do not over bake or the cake will be dry.

Cake may be served plain, with a dusting of powdered sugar, or it may be frosted (a cream cheese frosting is especially good).
