LAYERED MIXED VEGETABLE SALAD 
1 head lettuce, torn in bite size pieces
1/2 c. chopped green or red onion
1/2 c. chopped celery & green pepper
10 oz. frozen peas & sugar peas, thawed & drained
1 c. salad dressing
2 tbsp. sugar
2 c. shredded cheddar cheese
10 slices bacon, fried & drained & crumbled or 1/2 c. bacon bits
8 oz. water chestnuts, drained & sliced

In large bowl or 13"x9" pan, layer lettuce and onion. Spoon 1/2 cup salad dressing evenly over top. Layer celery, green pepper, peas and sugar peas. Spread remaining salad dressing over top. Sprinkle sugar, cheese and bacon over top. Cover and refrigerate at least 8 hours. Add water chestnuts. Toss before serving.
