CHOCOLATE CHERRY CAKE 
1 pkg. fudge, chocolate, devil's food, (any chocolate cake mix) preferably Pillsbury
21 oz. can cherry fruit pie filling
1 tsp. almond extract
2 eggs, beaten

FROSTING:

1 c. sugar
5 tbsp. butter
1/3 c. milk
6 oz. pkg. (1 c.) semi-sweet chocolate pieces

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Solid shortening, grease and flour 15 x 10 inch or 13 x 9 inch pan.

In large bowl mix first 4 ingredients, stir by hand until well mixed. Pour into pan. Bake 15 x 10 inch pan for 20 to 30 minutes. Bake 13 x 9 inch pan 25 to 30 minutes. While cooling, prepare frosting.

In small saucepan combine sugar, butter and milk. Boil, stirring constantly, 1 minute. Remove from heat, stir in chocolate pieces until smooth. Pour over partially cooled cake.

(NOTE: This frosting hardens quickly so make sure you pour it onto the cake promptly.)
