APPLE BARS 
1 c. lard
2 1/2 c. flour
1 tsp. salt
1 tbsp. sugar

Mix like pie crust, then add 1 egg yolk beaten in a cup and add enough milk to make 2/3 cup. Mix. Roll 1/2 of the dough for bottom crust in jelly roll pan. Spread 2 cups crushed corn flakes over crust. Slice 10 to 12 apples and sprinkle with 1 cup sugar and 1 teaspoon cinnamon. Put on top of corn flakes and dot with butter and sprinkle on a little vanilla. Cover with other 1/2 of crust - brush with beaten egg whites. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. When done, spread with powdered sugar glaze while warm.
