PASTRY ROUNDS: 2 c. flour 1 tsp. salt 2/3 c. shortening 1/4 c. water To make pastry rounds, heat oven to 475 degrees. Mix flour and salt; cut in shortening. Sprinkle with water and mix with fork. Divide in half and roll each to 1/8 inch thick. Cut into 1 1/2 inch or 2 inch circles. Place on foil covered baking sheet and prick with a fork. Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. 6 oz. tomato paste 1 tsp. garlic salt 1/4 tsp. oregano 1/4 lb. American or Mozzarella cheese, cubed 1/8 lb. salami or pepperoni, cut into rounds Before serving, heat oven to 400 degrees. Combine tomato paste, garlic salt and oregano. Spoon a small amount onto a pastry round. Top with small cube of cheese and a piece of the meat. Sprinkle with oregano. Bake 3 to 5 minutes. Serve hot. Makes about 4 dozen. |
