BEEF STEW 
2 lbs. extra lean stew beef, cut in bite-size pieces
7 or 8 med. potatoes, cut in bite-size pieces
1 lg. onion, quartered
1 lg. bell pepper, cut in strips
7 or 8 carrots, cut in bite-size pieces
1 c. barley
1/4 tsp. oregano
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
Salt & pepper to taste

Brown meat, drain. In a Dutch oven, combine all ingredients and cover generously with water. Bring to a boil and simmer until all is tender.
