ASPARAGUS AND PEAS CASSEROLE 
2 cans asparagus spears, drained
1 sm. can green peas
1/2 c. finely chopped onions
1/2 c. bread crumbs
White sauce (recipe below)
1/4 c. grated cheddar cheese (added to sauce)

Layer asparagus in long casserole dish, 1/2 of the onions, 1/2 of the bread crumbs, and a small amount of white sauce. Make another layer using peas, onions, bread crumbs, and white sauce.

Bake at 350 degrees for 35-45 minutes. (You might not need all of the sauce below.)

WHITE SAUCE:

3 tbsp. butter
3 tbsp. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 c. milk
1/4 c. grated cheddar cheese (just for the recipe above)

Melt butter in saucepan over low heat. Blend in flour, salt, and pepper. Cook over low heat, stirring until mixture is smooth and bubbly (Do not let mixture brown).

Remove from heat. Stir in milk. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. (For recipe above, add cheese during the last minute, stirring until cheese has melted.
