APPLE DUMPLINGS 
Pastry for double crust pie
6 sm. cooking apples or pears
1/3 c. sugar
2 tbsp. cream
3/4 c. maple syrup

Roll out pastry; cut into 6 inch squares. Place 1 apple, peeled and cored, on each square. Combine sugar and cream and spoon into apple center. Moisten edges; fold corners and seal by pinching together. Place in 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Bake at 450 degrees for 15 minutes. Reduce to 350 degrees. Cook 30 minutes. Baste twice during the 30 minute period with the syrup.
