APPLE CRUMB PIE 
2/3 c. shortening
1 tsp. salt
1/4 c. boiling water
1 1/2 c. flour

FILLING:

6-7 apples, cored & sliced
1/2 c. sugar
1 tsp. cinnamon
Pinch of salt

CRUMB TOPPING:

1/3 c. butter
1/2 c. sugar
3/4 c. flour

Crust: Cream shortening with salt; add boiling water; mix. Add flour. When mixed, press crust into 9-10 inch pie pan. Fill crust with apples; sprinkle with sugar, cinnamon and salt.

Mix crumb topping in a small bowl and sprinkle over top of apple filling. Place in a preheated oven for 10 minutes at 450 degrees. Lower heat to 350 degrees and bake 30 minutes longer or until apples are soft.
