BAKED ORANGE FRENCH TOAST 
8 slices French bread, cut 3/4 to 1-inch thick
grated peel of 1 large orange
2/3 c. orange juice
6 eggs
1/3 c. orange liqueur
1 c. half and half
3 tbsp. granulated sugar
1/4 c. (1/2 stick) butter, cut in small pieces (optional)
confectioners sugar

Butter a 9-inch square pan. Lay bread slices evenly in pan. Combine orange peel, orange juice, eggs, liqueur, half and half and granulated sugar. Pour over bread. Dot with butter if desired. Refrigerate. The following morning, heat oven to 350°F.

Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until puffed and set. Dust with confectioners sugar.

Makes 4 to 6 servings. Note: If desired, serve with a topping of butter and orange marmalade melted together in the microwave or with maple syrup. Per serving: 446 calories.

Since microwave ovens vary in power, you may need to adjust your cooking time.
